Some public
schools in El Salvador do
not have a physical education teacher. So children can not advance
and improve their motor skills. This affects students not only physically but also mentally, emotionally
and in their moods. Since
children taking part in sports are
stronger than those who do not, the implementation of a physical education
program is absolutely necessary, not
only as a subject but also
because it is the way for us to have good athletes one day. But this
requires a vast amount of economical resources.
Another problem in the education system in some public schools in El Salvador is the teaching of mathematics. Actually it is an
abstract subject that requires new
teaching methods as well as specialized teachers who have the ability
and enthusiasm to break with traditional practices.Other aspects to take into account
are that students do not show any interest in mathematics and they get bad
grades.at the end we have student with low math profficiency levels.!Really
worrying!
From the beginning of schooling, differences among
classmates in learning mathematics
are vast. A few students
quickly grasp
concepts and progress without any problems, others have a very slow pace, even without particular difficulties and show few serious difficulties
some aspects of mathematical learning:
memorizing multiplication tables and / or procedures, resolve problems or situations, etc.. In short, in any classroom
mathematics in primary education, there is a great variety in the skills that show students in learning rates, in the foreground, on motivation, attitudes toward the subject, etc..

A good number
of students that are
being taken down in
classrooms, are students with
a slower learning of mathematics that prevail
in the classroom. The content structure of mathematics in primary is hierarchical, it is built on new
knowledge previously acquired. A
child may not have any trouble, just
his pace is
slower, and if this is not taken
into account, if we rush to instill new
knowledge rather than consolidate
previous ones,neither will they learn
one nor the other.
I think you can speak with certainty about the issue because you have lived it for several year, and you are right, physical education classes are really essential, and we need to work on the way math is being taught around the country. I'm sure there are plenty of techniques that other countries are applying whch we can adapt to our reality; in other words we need training from experts in the subject matter.
ResponderEliminarI would also like to add that english classes are causing almost the same impact. I believe you are not the case, but I dare to type that at least the 70% of the english teachers are frustrating their students by teachng monotonically and by flunking most of them.
I agree with you because i have seen how many public school do not pay attention to physical education classes and that is something bad because during this classes students have time to relax, to have fun and play with other students, and also as you mention they can develop their motor skills. well, there many problems that requires teacher`s attention, so as a feature teachers we have to do our best when teaching and helping students with their learning in all the areas...
